Jesse Hentges' Biography
My name is Jesse Hentges and I became Elementary Counselor at Blair Oaks Elementary School in 2012. Prior to coming to Blair Oaks, I was a Teacher then Elementary Counselor for Eugene Elementary School. I live in Jefferson City with my husband Randy and four children Kadence (14), Hunter (12), Harper (7) and Brielle (2). My degree, Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education Grades 1-6, was earned in 2004 from Lincoln University. I received my Masters of Education degree in 2012 also from Lincoln University. I am certified for grades K-8. In addition to my counseling responsibilities, I also teach CharacterPlus to K-4 students. It is my privilege to provide a full range of guidance and counseling services to students at Blair Oaks RII Elementary School. I am committed to working with each student to promote academic and social success.
Counseling Philosophy
The comprehensive guidance and counseling program is an integral part of Blair Oaks RII Elementary School District's total educational program. It is developmental by design and includes sequential activities organized and implemented by professional school counselors with the active support of parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and the community. As a developmental program, it addresses the needs of all students by facilitating their academic, career, and personal/social development as well as helping to create a positive and safe learning climate in our school. This is done by covering safety, bullying, drug and alcohol awareness, character, study skills, transitions, tattling vs. reporting, choices, self-esteem, friendship, feelings, acceptance and tolerance, as well as career exploration. At the same time, the program assists students as they face issues and resolve problems that may prevent their healthy development and social interaction.
Our Character recognition is usually the last Friday of the month.
